Wedding and Event Estate in Córdoba
At La Vieja Cigarra, every corner tells a story. Our wedding cortijo in Córdoba is more than just a venue — it’s a place rich in tradition and meaning. Since its beginnings, this estate has witnessed countless unforgettable moments, and now we invite you to experience its charm for yourself.
A Glimpse into Our History
The original estate was acquired by the famous bullfighter Rafael Guerra “Guerrita” from the executors of the Marchioness of Guadalcázar in the late 19th century. This detail is recorded in the bullfighting weekly Sol y Sombra, Year II, Issue 60, published in Madrid in 1898. According to the source, the Cordoban matador devoted much of his time on these lands to his favorite pastime: hare hunting.
Renowned for its owner, Rafael Guerra — the second Caliph of Cordoban bullfighting — the estate was also famous for its magnificent dovecote, known for its original design and unique beauty. The property remained in his possession until his death on February 21, 1941. It was later managed by his heirs until the Círculo Taurino de Córdoba acquired it in the mid-1970s to establish the Manuel Benítez “El Cordobés” Bullfighting School. During this period, a bullring was built on the estate, replicating the dimensions of Córdoba’s Coso de los Califas. It became a training ground for many local bullfighters until the mid-1990s.
In the 1980s, the estate was purchased by the Granados Ruiz family, who transformed it into one of the finest cortijos for weddings in Córdoba. Each space was reimagined for celebrations, and the estate was renamed to its current name: La Vieja Cigarra.

Lifestyle
Every celebration at La Vieja Cigarra is more than just an event — it’s part of my life and my connection to this place.
I arrived here when I was just eight years old, hand in hand with my parents. Years later, I now gather the fruit from every tree we planted and every smile we’ve shared.
La Vieja Cigarra is so much more than a venue; it’s a way of life. It’s the sound of cicadas in the summer, the scent of burning wood in winter.
Today, its corners are filled with memories, and I still get emotional every time I see a white butterfly. The most precious thing I have is the peace that lives in the air here.
With every wedding and every event, I try to share that same essence — the feeling of calm and love that this place has given me over the years.
La Vieja Cigarra is a space where emotions, stories, and a deep respect for nature come together.
