Farmhouse for Weddings in Córdoba
A Bit of Our History
The original estate was acquired by the bullfighter Rafael Guerra ‘Guerrita’ from the heirs of the Marquesa de Guadalcázar at the end of the 19th century. This detail is mentioned in one of the annals of the bullfighting weekly ‘Sol y Sombra,’ year II, number 60 from 1898, in Madrid. According to this source, the Cordoban bullfighter dedicated a significant portion of his time on this land to his favorite hobby: ‘hunting hares.’
Famous for its owner Rafael Guerra, the second Caliph of Cordoban bullfighting, the estate was also known for its magnificent pigeon loft, with an original design and unique beauty. This land remained in his possession until his death on February 21, 1941. The property was later managed by his heirs until the Círculo Taurino de Córdoba acquired the land in the mid-70s to establish the Manuel Benítez ‘El Cordobés’ Bullfighting School. During this time, a bullring was built, its perimeter replicating that of the Coso de los Califas of Córdoba, serving as a training ground for many Cordoban bullfighters until the mid-90s.
In the 1980s, the estate was acquired by the Granados Ruiz family, who transformed it into one of the best farmhouses for weddings in Córdoba, with each space carefully designed for celebrations, renaming it to its current name: La Vieja Cigarra.
Lifestyle
Every celebration at La Vieja Cigarra is more than just an event; it’s a part of my life and my connection to this place.
I arrived here at just eight years old, holding my parents’ hands, and years later, I reap the fruits of every tree planted and every smile lived.
La Vieja Cigarra is for me much more than a place for celebrations; it’s a lifestyle. It’s the sound of cicadas in the summer, the smell of burning wood in the winter.
Today, its corners nourish me with memories, and I still feel a thrill every time I see a white butterfly. The most precious thing I have is the peace that breathes here.
In every wedding, every event, I try to convey that same essence, that feeling of tranquility and love that this place has given me throughout the years. La Vieja Cigarra is a space where emotions, stories, and a deep respect for nature intertwine.
